they’re lucky they’re hot

First Kate Spade brought some gorgeous bangles to the arm party (including this beauty), then before you can say, “load ’em up”, the Big H gets in on the act. Now, I’ve drooled on about Hermès’ products before (see here), but these enamel bangles are something, else. I don’t think I can even choose favourites. Just don’t look at the price tag. Oh, you did? Yep, I thought it was a misprint too.

festive french connection

If I need a party dress and I don’t want to schlep round every single store to find one (there are a LOT of shops on the high street and I usually lose focus after looking in about two), then there’s one place that won’t fail to deliver: French Connection. The brand formally known as FCUK. Remember those days? Best not to. Thankfully the days of sex selling are no more, and French Connection has transformed from a cheap hussy into a classy lady. Check out my pick of the pleated, sequined and bejewelled dresses on offer… all topped off with sparkly heels and a mock croc clutch. French Connection, with these beauties you are really spoiling us:

homes for the holiday

Morning everyone! Hope you all had a lovely weekend whatever you got up to. With only 27 days to go till Christmas, my festive rituals have started… this includes watching the movies that you can only really watch this time of year. These include Home Alone, Love Actually, Elf, Serendipity, and The Holiday. Even though the acting skills in The Holiday are kinda dire (I find watching it whilst nursing a mug of mulled wine usually helps), I’m still charmed by it. It’s the ‘gumption’ and the old guy climbing the stairs at the end, gets me every time. The other reason I watch it each year is for the amazing house interiors, which is no surprise since director Nancy Meyers is the brains behind it. Remember the covetable decor in It’s Complicated and Something’s Gotta Give? Yup, Meyers also responsible. First up is Diaz/Amanda’s LA mansion, with its vast rooms, laid-back Californian vibe and that kitchen:

Then who can forget the dreamy cottage in the snowy English countryside (because in films, England is always snowy at Christmas), belonging to Winslet’s character Iris. It’s the buttoned velvet ottoman, the exposed beams and open fires that do it for me. Just gorgeous:

hurts the eyes

On their own, they look like this:

If it’s possible, they look even better together:

Folks, I think we’ve just found the most beautiful couple of all time. Brangelina, you held the title for a long while, but I think you know you’ve lost this one. Lively and Reynolds, solid effort… but you too. Game over.

bright lights, big city

It often just starts with one image that inspires me to come up with a theme of a post, and on this occasion it was the top one. It reminded me of my time working in NYC, when I used to walk up Fifth Avenue to my office next to the Chrysler Building, and even on the rainiest of days I used to look up to the skyscrapers and think to myself, “you jammy so-and-so.” I love how city lights blur into, I dunno, a feeling, rather than being able to make out every single detail. That’s what all these images below seem to represent… the excitement and buzz of big city life:

And it seems that my beloved Kate Spade used the same inspiration when she incorporated hazy city lights into her designs. And finally I found a couple of pieces of art on etsy, that use vivid colour and lack of precision to get that same effect:

{1. Kate Spade City Lights Bangle – $128 / / 2. Kate Spade City Lights Gia – $75 / / 3. Kate Spade City Lights Bon Shopper – $175 / / 4. ‘City Lights Romance’ by Karen Tarlton – £263.91 / / 5. ‘Rain City Lights’ by B. Sasik – £164.03}
