wizards of oz

I love to follow the online shelter magazines, and one of my favourites is Adore which is run by designer Loni Parker in Australia. The pages reflect the sunshine that we associate with the Land Down Under, bursting with vibrant hues and bold geometric prints. The content, styling and photography are simply gorgeous. And the great news is that Adore has also launched their own online store (see here) to help you emulate the looks seen in the magazine. Ikat vases and bright chevron cushions? They read my mind.

queen in waiting

I hope you all enjoyed the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations as much as I did. Since we’ve upped sticks and moved out of the Big City, we found ourselves glued to Sky News most of the weekend, in between unpacking boxes. There was a tiny part of me that wishes I could have been there amongst the vast crowds, experiencing the once-in-a-lifetime atmosphere… but then I remembered that I hate being pushed and shoved in confined spaces, queuing for public transport, and drizzle, so to be honest I didn’t regret my decision to stay put and raise a glass of bubbly to HRH from afar. If I know her as well as I think I do, I’m sure she would have understood.

Now, I know the focus was quite rightly on the Queen (and didn’t she look utterly fabulous), but I felt that the media gave the Duchess of Cambridge some unwarranted flak. She was accused of trying to outshine the Queen in red Alexander McQueen, then of not taking enough fashion risks the following day in her tried-and-tested formula of lace and LK Bennett. Firstly, do these critics really think that our dear ruler would have let Kate step out in anything that wasn’t 100% approved? And secondly, the poor girl can’t win! Too racy in red, but too boring in beige. I am firmly on Team Kate, and through all the pressures that she’s under on a daily basis, I think she carries herself with incredible poise and grace. And looks flawless throughout. So in tribute to the Duchess (I don’t think the Queen would mind, she’s not one for the limelight anyway), here are my favourite Kate looks to date:

Although one criticism I do kind of agree with… the LK Bennett nude pumps may need to be shelved for a while. Just sayin’.

peachy keen

Firstly, huge apologies for the lengthy radio silence… the move out of London was a mission and a half, but we’re now settled in Hertfordshire and I’ll be back on my usual blogging schedule! Hope you all had a lovely Jubilee weekend. How amazing were the celebrations?? Made me extremely proud to be British (more on that tomorrow). For today’s post, I have borrowed a look from the ever-stylish Blair of Atlantic-Pacific and put my own twist on it. There’s coral involved… obviously. But it’s such an easy look to play around with and make your own. Tell me, is this a summer outfit that you’d wear?

at home with sacramento street

Now, I like bright, striking decor as much as the next person, but sometimes it’s the more neutral palettes that I’m drawn to. Case in point, the home of Caitlin Flemming, who writes the hugely popular interior design blog Sacramento Street. It makes for such peaceful surroundings, especially dotted with the strategically placed folliage and blankets readily available. With a Buddha, a bar tray and a bed with a thousand pillows, all that’s left to do is throw on some Bublé in the background. Yes, I’m still only 30… and no, I’m not kidding about the Bublé.

newest style crush

Warning: this post will give you severe wardrobe envy. And accessory envy. And hair envy, come to that. I’ve only just discovered Pink Peonies but I’m already totally hooked. Blog owner Rachel – a cross between Jenna Dewan and Shailene Woodley, grrr lucky girl – has an incredibly eclectic taste in clothes, and manages to look fantastic every single time. Preppy, neon, nautical, Hepburn, Rachel’s posts are a sartorial smorgasbord… and most importantly full of high street pieces, so it never feels out of reach the way some fashion blogs do. What do you think of Rachel’s style?
