how the other half live: jennifer lopez

Jennifer Lopez has been a style icon for many years ever since she broke out that green Versace dress, and as I discovered in Veranda magazine, her sense of style permeates into her home as well. Lopez has created a very elegant, grown-up and relaxing space in her California residence, and according to her interior designer, Michelle Workman, “It’s sort of Jennifer in a nutshell – she has a romantic streak. It’s tastefully glamourous, like Jennifer herself.” Workman adds that, “She knows what she likes” (note absence of word ‘diva’). Art Deco touches feature subtly alongside soft and inviting tones of grey, taupe, peach and pink. Workman also successfully mixes gold and silver – combining masculine and feminine – to add warmth.
I’ve pretty much fallen in love with her home… it’s clear that she likes to surround herself with beautiful things (I would insert a Marc Anthony joke here, but that’s way too obvious). If I had to pick favourites, I’d go with the gold chain chandelier and the accompanying white tufted chairs. And I love the idea of having a ball gown on display. Jenny from the Block? Not even a little bit.

spotlight on jan constantine

Jan Constantine is the queen of British textiles and home accessories. Whether you’re a fan of the country cottage look, Cool Britannia, fresh seaside style or just really really well-made products, then you need to invest in one of these “heirlooms of the future.” And now is a perfect time to do so with the current sale featuring a number of her most popular items. Constantine’s website – which I visit with a stalker-like frequency – also contains images filled with design ideas and inspiration. Bring a little Peace and Love into your home:

sleep in style

If you’re anything like me then you will have spent an inordinate amount of time asleep over the Christmas holiday period. There aren’t many feelings better than waking up believing it’s a work day and you have to leave your warm duvet cocoon, before realising that you have nowhere to go but back to the land of nod. Having always been a fan of LivingEtc’s online galleries, I scrolled through their incredibly chic pages of inspiration and decided that if I were to need any more sleep (yes, it’s possible, I have the sleeping abilities of an 80-year-old), then these would be exactly the kind of places I’d want to lay my head:

how the other half live: jude & sienna

Now, you won’t blame me if I’m not entirely convinced that this genetically-blessed pairing are going to last. Just a hunch. After Jude’s “indiscretion”, he had an illegitimate child and Sienna took it upon herself to see what she’d been missing. Following a fling with the furry Rhys Ifans, she realised she missed the prettiness, and the couple reunited late last year. They have now combined their sizeable pay packets and splashed out on an £8million Georgian house in Highgate, North London. Rumours that Sienna has secretly installed CCTV cameras in the nanny’s quarters are unconfirmed. Here’s a look inside (keep an eye out for the random floral cow):
