style stalker: millie mackintosh

Now, I don’t know about you, but one of my not-so-guilty pleasures in life is Made in Chelsea… it’s cringeworthy TV at its best, and its colourful characters live jet-set lifestyles that I can only dream of. Swan off to Cannes for the weekend? Mais pourquoi pas?! One of my favourite protagonists since the beginning has been Millie Mackintosh, owner of a sharp tongue and an even sharper wardrobe. The girl has impeccable taste with a slightly boho edge which gives a nod to our dear Sienna of old, before she just turned scruffy. And now Millie has reached the dizzy heights of the C-list, with a rapper boyfriend (from the *gasp* East End) on her arm… fashion lines and a walk-on movie role are surely soon to follow. So there you have it; if you happen to be born the heiress to a confectionery empire, then the world is your oyster-coloured YSL heels. Bitter, moi?

See? No wonder Millie is being referred to as the British Olivia Palermo. Oh no, wait, that was just me who said that. Fancy emulating The Mack? Then look no further. I’ve put together a few pieces that will have you looking totes amaze, yah, on the King’s Road:

Topshop tie dye denim leggings – £22 / 7. ASOS lock bag – £38 / 8. Wilt jersey maxi dress – £88 / 9. Zara platform sandal – £29.99 / 10. Closet peplum dress – £25 / 11. take the girl out the city

Everything knows Whitney Port, right? LC’s wingwoman in the Teen Vogue fashion closet, who then went on to have her own show that launched Olivia Palermo into the stratosphere. You with me? Well, she’s the latest subject for The Coveteur, that glorious website that combines fashion, interiors, and amazing styling and photography. Now the designer of her very own label, Whitney Eve, our girl Whit is back living in Cali after her stint in NYC, and to be honest it’s where her laid-back, girly style is much more at home. Being the über-fan that I am of all these MTV reality shows (yes, I do own the boxsets), I can spot that familiar devore sofa and the yellow dress that she wore on her first day at DVF. Had I worn the same thing to my first day at my new job last week, I would have been laughed at and promptly shown the door. If only I had a camera crew.

how the other half live: sass & bide

Good morning everyone! So, Sass & Bide’s Creative Director and Head Designer, Heidi Middleton, has a cushy set-up. Cast your eyes over the gorgeous images below. Uh-huh, that’s where she lives, people. After my post on Friday highlighting gorgeous Australian interiors as shown in Adore magazine, I was delighted to find another residence in Oz that made my heart melt. With those stunning views over Palm Beach (just north of Sydney), stone floors, and just the right amount of colour thrown on top of a white backdrop, Heidi’s home is damn near perfection. Australia is one of the destinations for our honeymoon in January, so this eye candy is giving me a serious pick-me-up after a grey and drizzly weekend. What do you think of this hilltop house?

Also, you may have spotted a very subtle addition to my side-bar… it’s Cosmo Blog Awards time again (where did the year go?), and if this site makes you smile and you have a minute to nominate my little blog for the ‘Best lifestyle blog’ category, I would be hugely grateful.
Thank you, lovely readers 🙂 xx

queen in waiting

I hope you all enjoyed the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations as much as I did. Since we’ve upped sticks and moved out of the Big City, we found ourselves glued to Sky News most of the weekend, in between unpacking boxes. There was a tiny part of me that wishes I could have been there amongst the vast crowds, experiencing the once-in-a-lifetime atmosphere… but then I remembered that I hate being pushed and shoved in confined spaces, queuing for public transport, and drizzle, so to be honest I didn’t regret my decision to stay put and raise a glass of bubbly to HRH from afar. If I know her as well as I think I do, I’m sure she would have understood.

Now, I know the focus was quite rightly on the Queen (and didn’t she look utterly fabulous), but I felt that the media gave the Duchess of Cambridge some unwarranted flak. She was accused of trying to outshine the Queen in red Alexander McQueen, then of not taking enough fashion risks the following day in her tried-and-tested formula of lace and LK Bennett. Firstly, do these critics really think that our dear ruler would have let Kate step out in anything that wasn’t 100% approved? And secondly, the poor girl can’t win! Too racy in red, but too boring in beige. I am firmly on Team Kate, and through all the pressures that she’s under on a daily basis, I think she carries herself with incredible poise and grace. And looks flawless throughout. So in tribute to the Duchess (I don’t think the Queen would mind, she’s not one for the limelight anyway), here are my favourite Kate looks to date:

Although one criticism I do kind of agree with… the LK Bennett nude pumps may need to be shelved for a while. Just sayin’.

cannes fashion week

Checking out the A-list’s fashion choices at Cannes is like a sport to me. Every year I eagerly await this joyous week, knowing that the stars are gonna pull out all the stops. And this year, it’s even more exciting because Kruger, my no.1 style crush, is a member of this year’s Jury. I don’t know what this means in terms of her job description (although I’ll bet it’s more glamourous than regular jury duty), but what I do know is that she’s going to be hitting the red carpet… a lot. And she’s already given us a taster by blowing away the competition in mint Giambattista Valli. If she starts parading Pacey in front of the paps on top of wearing beauties like this, I think I’ll die of happiness.

I mean, seriously.

To celebrate the start of Celebs-on-Sea Week, here are some of my favourite looks from Cannes gone by:
