just. too. pretty.

When I saw this recent pic of Nicole Richie, as much as that canary dress is beyond adorable, it was those shoes that won my heart. I blogged about my weakness for nailhead trim a couple of months ago (see here), and now as if by magic (we’ll call it magic), this interior trend has found its way onto a pair of uh-may-zing Loubs:

It hurts to look at them. It really does.

fancy friday

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you’ve had a good week. Mine has been spent celebrating wherever possible, and this weekend will be no different. I’m heading back to the country to share yet more bubbles with family and close friends, and just enjoy the ridiculously-happy-on-cloud-nine feeling that isn’t going anywhere fast. Am I nauseating? Ok, I’ll stop. Let’s talk interiors instead. A look that I am borderline obsessed with at the moment is Persian rugs. I’ve spent more time than is probably normal checking out some absolute beauties on eBay… even though I’m not actually in the market for an oriental rug at the moment, it can’t hurt to look, right? They look great anywhere (especially in the kitchen, gotta say). Even if a room has a stark, minimalist feel, add a Persian and it ups the cosy factor ten-fold. Another benefit of these rugs is that, as with Mulberry bags and George Clooney, they just get better with age. Are you a fan? Where do you think they look best in the home?

My look of the week goes to a Fancy Friday favourite, Camilla Belle. She is seriously flawless in this Ralph Lauren gown and fuchsia lips, and the detail on the train of the dress is exquisite. If I could look even one tenth as pulled together as this, I would be happy. As for my room of the week, well, of course it had to feature a Persian, but it also includes a sofa that may not be conducive to a TV dinner of beans on toast (especially with my tendency to spill), but sure as hell looks purdy:

I hope you have an amazing weekend whatever you’re doing and wherever you may be…

jonathan adler in the uk

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had fabulous weekends. I had a great time at Lucy and James’ wedding part 2 (part 1 was by Lake Como… swoon), seeing some of my most favourite people in the world. Back to work and it’s going to be a tough few days, but this time next week will be all the sweeter when my event is done and dusted. Onto today’s post and another exciting import to come to the UK (in addition to this) is Jonathan Adler and his gorgeous home decor collection. I have been a huge fan for a long time and his bold use of colour and pattern is absolute perfection. I would love to adorn my home with pieces from Adler’s new store in Chelsea… namely that silver velvet 2-seater, which is pretty much my dream sofa. Ok, so the prices are ker-ching to say the least, but you gotta aim high in life. And ‘high’ for me is buttoned, velvety goodness:

stylish smegs

Out of all the rooms in a house, I think I fantasize most about my dream kitchen. I’d love a vast farmhouse kitchen that has a giant table to fill with family and friends, a sofa (yep, it must have room for a sofa) and double doors that open out to a peaceful garden. The latest addition to my vision is a Smeg fridge. They just looks so deliciously retro, and look so fresh and clean, for want of a better description. You know what… I think it’s the mint one below that’s won my heart. How do you feel about Smegs?

at home with carley kay

Happy Monday everyone! Sorry for the radio silence at the end of last week… sometimes my day job monopolises my time and my blog gets relegated to second place. Sadface. Anyway, I’m back now and for today’s post I have a really bright and fun home belonging to a very talented photographer, Carley Kay. Carley resides in Chicagoland with her adorable family, and documented the transformation of her new home on her website… which is nothing short of breathtaking. This space just makes me smile, with chevron patterns making multiple appearances and white walls letting the colourful furniture and prints take centre stage. My favourite touch is the yellow headboard against the floral cushions. Pure sunshine to wake up to every morning:
