“who are you wearing?”

Not only did we have the excitement of two award shows on Sunday night, but we also have the Elle Style Awards hot on their Louboutin heels. This side of the pond we had the BAFTAs (guess who won leading actor and actress! See all the winners here) and to be honest I was a little disappointed with the overall fashion choices in comparison with the recent Golden Globes or the SAG awards… for me, Jessica Alba was the clear winner with a stand-out azure Atelier Versace gown. It was also great to see Emma Watson, who continues to look chic and old-Hollywood, in a fresh-off-the-runway Valentino beauty (part of the collection seen here):

Over at the less conservative Grammy Awards in LA (click here for the winners) it was a case of anything goes, with the stars not afraid to step out in shimmering metallics and bold prints. This was a more difficult one to call with regards to my best dressed of the night… but I think I’ll go for Nicole Kidman, who looked far less severe (read into that what you will) than on previous occasions. I loved her wavy bohemian hair, the way the dress fitted her so perfectly and also how damn happy she looked! J-Lo brought the fierce, as ever, and I also really liked how Jennifer Hudson made the most of her newly svelte figure with a stunning navy Versace gown. Overall, I have to say, the Grammy ladies were the style winners. What do you think?

heaven scent

With my beloved ‘Daisy’ by Marc Jacobs dispensing its final sprays, I’ve been pondering what is usually unthinkable in my world… change. Thankfully this needn’t be too much of a change, with Marc Jacobs thoughtfully bringing out a fragrance in the same family: ‘Daisy Eau So Fresh’. It could definitely be a winner, especially since the bottle is so pretty (yes, perfume manufacturers, girls are seduced by packaging). However, there are other new and exciting perfumes currently hitting the market, such as Jimmy Choo’s first foray into the world of scents. If the fact that I have spent the past week rubbing the Jimmy Choo perfume strip from various magazines on my wrists is anything to go by, then it’s safe to say I’m a fan. If you’re looking for a new perfume, then why not go for one of these, and come up smelling like roses (or geraniums… or apple blossoms…):

Will you be trying a new scent this spring?

style stalker: mila kunis

I feel like Mila Kunis has quietly crept up on us. Having never watched That 70s Show, I previously knew her as the voice of Meg on Family Guy and the (now ex) wife of Macauley Culkin, but now we’re seeing her as far more than just a whiney cartoon character and the spouse of someone who was clearly batting out of his league. It was after her role in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and the press rounds that went hand-in-hand, that her style credentials quickly became apparent. The girl never puts a fashion foot wrong on the red carpet. And they’re not just safe (albeit chic) Rachel Zoe options… she’s always experimenting with different patterns, hemlines and fabrics. So, to sum up: she’s stunning, incredibly talented and well-respected at her craft, friends with Ashton Kutcher, and every designer and their wife is falling over themselves to dress her. How do you say “smug off” in Ukrainian?
If you can’t beat her (which is doubtful unless you’re Natalie Portman), then you may as well join her:

rock a ruffle

Ruffles didn’t just make an appearance on the catwalks during Paris Haute Couture Week (as seen here), they are all over the place at the moment. It’s an incredibly feminine trend which can give outfits movement and a flirtiness. I love this look, it reminds me of sumptuous French desserts, lush peonies and ballerina tutus… not to mention Marchesa bridal gowns. Will you be embracing the layered look?

p.s i love you

I have a confession to make… I don’t like Valentine’s Day. Never have done. I will refrain from going off on a rant (which lasts for 20 minutes… my friends have timed it), and concede that as much as I’m not a fan of V-Day, I am a hopeless romantic who has a soft spot for all things that feature hearts or a suggestion of slushiness. And give me the potential for a gift guide and I couldn’t be happier. So, here is some inspiration to make this year’s 14th Feb go with a bang. Wait, I should rephrase…!
