fancy friday

Today has been the most amazing day. For those of you who watched The Wedding (did anyone not??), you’ll know what I mean… it was absolutely magical, and at this moment I feel so proud to be British (and still a little speechless, gotta say!). I think that even those who believe that the Royal Family has no place in today’s society, couldn’t have helped but be touched by the proceedings. Tomorrow I’m going to write a full report – including the all-important fashion moments! – but for now here are some images I found from Pinterest and a message for the newlyweds:

As I clear away the strawberries, scones and Champagne that I shared with my lovely friends whilst watching the wedding, I will leave you with my looks of the week; Lauren Conrad looks unbelievably chic in her own line and nude Loubs (love her hair, she does the up-do so well), and a room that I could quite happily sit in and while away the hours on my laptop. One day I hope to have such a room, but for now my comfy couch will do just fine:

I hope you have a perfect weekend whatever you’re doing and wherever you may be…

trend alert | red & taupe

Some things were just born to go together; Salt-n-Peppa, chocolate and peanut butter, Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass (please Lord, make it happen), Ant and Dec… and red and taupe. Bright colour is of course the trend of S/S11, and add it to the elegant and softer cousin of grey and it’s a classic combination. Teaming up a bold shade with a neutral one works especially well for those who are a little colour-shy; try a taupe dress with a bright red clutch and heels, or you could cheat by combining the two and invest in a pair of taupe Louboutins. Two birds with one stone – surely that’s just good sense:

kate spade summer

I can be extremely fickle at times – I had every intention of posting about something else today, then I made a quick visit to Kate Spade and the other post was forgotten in a flash. But take a glance over these typically stylish KS goodies, and I hope you’ll understand why. Stand-outs for me include the adorably-named ‘Tipsy’ pink patent toe flats and the gold paper weight. What do you think of the newest additions to the Kate Spade stable?

disco era

Good morning! I hope you all had lovely weekends – isn’t it always so hard to drag yourself out of bed on a Monday morning when you’ve had an especially nice weekend? But just repeat after me, “four-day week, four-day weekend, four-day week, four-day…” – I think you get the idea. Feel better already? Good.
Now, how do you feel about the return (once again) of all things 70s? For me, done right it can look gorgeous, from laid-back, breezy shirts and flared, high-waisted jeans, to ultra-glam Studio 54 inspired looks. Seen on the likes of Rosie H-W, J-Lo and Camilla Belle, this trend is perfect for the upcoming summer months filled with festivals (although not for me, I’m allergic), picnics in the park and special nights out that require opulence and big hair. A word of caution, though… touches of 70s rather than going head-to-toe hippy will prevent you looking like you’re on the way to a fancy dress party. Jewel tones (à la Gucci S/S11) are perfect for adding that luxe feeling, and be sure to super-size your platform heels, brims of hats, sunglasses, wooden bangles and sleeves. What do you think of the trend? Groovy or outdated?
