tangerine dream

It’s nearly Chinese New Year (it’s the Year of the Dragon, in case you were wondering), but if you speak to most design bloggers, it’s the PANTONE colour of the year that they’re more interested in. After last year’s Honeysuckle, PANTONE have gone bolder with their choice for 2012. According to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, the shade is, “Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive. Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it. Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.” So there you have it. That’s a lot of words to describe, well, orange. It’s never been an immediate favourite of mine, but I have to say, when paired with more muted shades it has the potential to look incredibly chic. I blame Hermès. *sigh* oh Hermès. Tell me, dear readers, are you a fan?
